Direct Reports: Site Supervisors, Cleaning Operatives, Team Leaders
Purpose of the RoleTo provide operational leadership and support across seven sites, ensuring cleaning services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The Area Cleaning Supervisor will drive service excellence, manage client relationships, support workforce development, and ensure compliance with company and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily cleaning operations across seven sites within the portfolio.
- Conduct regular site visits, audits, and quality inspections.
- Ensure all cleaning specifications, KPIs, and SLA requirements are achieved.
- Support mobilisation, contract changes, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Identify and implement best practices to improve service delivery and efficiency.
- Lead, coach, and develop site-based supervisors and cleaning teams.
- Conduct performance reviews, training assessments, and toolbox talks.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning activities.
- Support employee engagement and ensure company values are embedded across teams.
- Manage absence, disciplinary, grievance, and welfare matters in line with company procedures.
- Ensure all sites operate in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
- Complete regular site compliance audits and risk assessments.
- Ensure COSHH documentation, training records, and statutory compliance requirements are maintained.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Attend client review meetings and provide operational updates.
- Resolve service issues promptly and professionally.
- Identify opportunities for service enhancements and innovation.
- Monitor labour budgets and operational costs.
- Support payroll approval and workforce planning processes.
- Ensure resources are deployed effectively to achieve contract profitability.
- Assist in preparing business cases for operational improvements when required.
- Support innovation trials and new cleaning technologies.
- Analyse performance data and implement improvement plans.
- Promote environmental and sustainability initiatives across all locations.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience supervising multi-site cleaning or FM operations.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.
- Experience with quality auditing and KPI management.
- Strong communication and client relationship skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
- BICSc certification.
- Experience using workforce management or CAFM systems.
- Experience within large corporate, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
- Self-motivated and highly organised.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Professional and customer focused.
- Able to work independently across geographically dispersed sites.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing business requirements.
