Head of Kitchen Operations & Butchery

Super 8 Restaurants

At Super 8, our kitchens sit at the heart of everything we do. They are busy, generous, ingredient-led and full of people who care deeply about their craft.

We are looking for a Head of Kitchen Operations & Butchery to help strengthen the way our kitchens operate, lead and develop across the group.

This role is for someone who understands what brilliant kitchens need to thrive: talented chefs, clear standards, strong daily rhythms, great ingredients, sharp commercial thinking and calm, practical problem-solving.

A key part of this role is helping us coach, mentor and develop best-in-class Head Chefs, senior chefs and kitchen teams. You will coach, support and challenge our kitchen leaders, helping them build confidence in standards, systems, numbers, butchery, team development and operational leadership.

Working closely with our Founders, Operations Director, Head Chefs, GMs, Sourcing, Finance and restaurant teams, you will help make sure our kitchens are operating safely, consistently and commercially, while protecting the individuality, energy and quality that make each restaurant special.

The role

This is a senior, hands-on role with real influence across the business. You will support operational excellence across all Super 8 kitchens, with a focus on chef development, kitchen standards, systems, food margin, labour discipline, health and hygiene, BOH organisation, supplier performance, equipment, maintenance and butchery operations.

You will help turn good intention into strong daily practice: better stock control, cleaner processes, stronger accountability, clearer documentation, stronger kitchen leadership and more consistent results. It is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the detail, but can also see the bigger picture: where chefs need support, where standards can improve, where systems can be simplified and where the next layer of kitchen leadership can be developed.

What you’ll be doing

You will lead and support across key areas, including:

  • Coaching and developing Head Chefs, senior chefs and kitchen teams to build confidence, capability and consistency.
  • Helping create best-in-class kitchen leadership across the group, with clear standards, strong routines and practical development.
  • Driving strong kitchen and BOH standards across all restaurants.
  • Supporting food cost control, labour efficiency, stock, ordering, receipting and invoice discipline.
  • Owning and improving BOH systems, reporting routines and kitchen process adoption.
  • Leading on health, safety, HACCP, hygiene, due diligence and 5-star EHO standards.
  • Supporting allergen, APF, foreign body and food safety incidents, making sure actions and learnings are followed through.
  • Maintaining BOH SOPs, guides, training materials and operational documents.
  • Supporting BOH projects, refurbishments, new processes and system rollouts.
  • Working with Sourcing, Butchery, Procurement and kitchen teams to improve supplier performance, ingredient use, product consistency and commercial value.
  • Taking ownership of butchery standards, processes, quality, yield, safety, training and consistency across the group.
  • Looking ahead, identifying risks early and helping us build kitchen operations that support the future growth of the business.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who has operated at a senior kitchen level, ideally as a Head Chef or above, in high-quality, busy restaurants. You should be commercially sharp, highly organised, confident with numbers and comfortable working across multiple restaurants, priorities and personalities.

Most importantly, you should be someone who genuinely enjoys developing other chefs. Someone who can build trust quickly, challenge standards constructively and help Head Chefs and senior teams grow without making things feel corporate.

You should bring strong kitchen leadership experience, excellent food safety knowledge, confidence with systems, a good understanding of margin and labour, and a real interest in ingredients, butchery, restaurant culture and developing people.

About Super 8

Super 8 is an independent restaurant group built around distinctive restaurants, brilliant ingredients, generous hospitality and strong teams.

Each of our restaurants has its own identity, rhythm and personality, but they all share the same belief: great food, great service and great culture start with people who care deeply about what they do.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to have a real impact across a growing restaurant group, while staying close to kitchens, chefs, ingredients and the daily buzz of restaurant life.
